This is one of our favorite ways to get around Costa Rica. It can also be one of the most expensive, but is well worth it for an occasional adventure. Our drivers have shared fun stories and took us to places we wanted to see at a pace that allowed us to stop and smell the flowers, use the restroom, and grab a bite to eat.

Some of our fondest memories in Costa Rica are of the times we spent with Tico drivers. Some of them are taxi drivers who occasionally take visitors out on half or full day excursions. We were referred to drivers by hotel staff and expats we’ve met.
